This is a hand-carved drum from Mali, west Africa, called variously a dundun, doudoun, or djun-djun. It is about 13" in diameter x about 18" tall, made of Ngoni heavy hardwood, with metal rings and heavy modern drum rope tensioning cow skins that are unshaven, as is typical of modern doundouns.
